Good value on a toaster

I was looking for a new toaster and found the Maison Toaster on sale. With the newsletter sign-up discount, I got a pretty good price. It's a basic toaster, but it works well and looks decent in my kitchen. For the price I paid, I feel like it was a solid deal. Definitely felt like I got good value for my money.

Good pan set, delivery a bit slow

I bought the Ingenio Essential 13 Piece Pan Set during a sale. The pans themselves are great, really versatile with the removable handle, and they stack nicely. Quality feels solid. Delivery took about 6 days, which was a little longer than I expected, but everything arrived well-packaged. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

My new ActiFry is awesome

Got myself an ActiFry Genius XL and it's been a game changer. Super easy to use, and the chips come out perfect. Really glad I finally got one. The website was easy to navigate when I ordered it, no fuss at all.

Smooth experience for a new iron

I needed a new steam generator iron and picked the Pro Express Protect. The ordering process on the website was straightforward; I found the product quickly. It shipped within two days, which was nice, and arrived securely packed. The iron itself is brilliant, heats up fast, and makes ironing much quicker. I had a quick question about registration, and customer service responded to my email within 24 hours, which was efficient. No complaints about the product's performance either, it's a significant upgrade from my old one. Everything from browsing to using the product was quite smooth.

Just got my new ActiFry Genius XL, but the recipe book is a bit sparse. Anyone got any go-to recipes they love for it?

R RohanK 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Definitely try sweet potato fries! A little oil, salt, and paprika, so good. Also, I make a mean chicken tikka in mine, super easy cleanup.

Chicken tikka sounds amazing! Do you marinate beforehand?

Sweet potato fries are a classic! How long do you usually cook them for?

M Meera 1 month ago
I found a few good ones on YouTube actually, just search 'ActiFry recipes UK'. Some proper hidden gems there.
5
V VikramG 1 month ago
Yeah, their official app has some too, but YouTube's better for real user reviews.

Oh, never thought of YouTube, thanks!

Mine gets a lot of use for crispy roasted veg, broccoli and cauliflower mostly. Quick and easy side dish. Not really a 'recipe' but it's a lifesaver.

P PriyaS 1 month ago
Good shout, I always forget about just roasting veggies in it.

Thinking of buying a food processor during the seasonal clearance. Anyone have good or bad experiences with the Tefal ones? Looking for something that can handle dough and chopping veg easily.

N NadiaK 5 days ago ✓ Best Answer
I have the Masterchef 8000, and it's a beast! Handles dough no problem, and the chopping attachments are great. Only downside is it's a bit bulky to store.

R RiaP 5 days ago
Is it easy to clean?

Y YasminA 5 days ago
Masterchef 8000, got it. Bulky is fine if it works well.

Check reviews for specific models. Some food processors are better for liquids, some for solids. I found their blenders are great, but never tried their food processors.

Y YasminA 5 days ago
Yeah, I've been looking at reviews, but wanted some real user opinions.

I had an older model a few years back, and the motor burnt out after about 2 years. Might have been a dud though. Hopefully, they've improved since then.

Oh, that's not ideal. Good to keep in mind.

My Tefal kettle started leaking from the base a few weeks after the warranty expired. So frustrating! Has anyone had any luck getting spare parts or fixing small issues like that themselves?

S SarahK 6 days ago ✓ Best Answer
Ugh, that's annoying! I had a similar problem with an older model. I managed to find a replacement seal on a third-party site, not official Tefal, but it worked. Might be worth searching for your specific model number.
7
M MarkJ 6 days ago
Interesting, I'll have a look. I assumed it would be impossible to fix.
3
T TomB 6 days ago
Yeah, sometimes unofficial parts are the only way.
3
G GavP 6 days ago
Sometimes it's just not worth the faff for a kettle, might be time for a new one mate.
2
M MarkJ 6 days ago
True, but I hate throwing things away if they're fixable.
8
A AnnaL 6 days ago
Tefal UK does sell spare parts for some products, but kettles might be harder to get components for than, say, an ActiFry. Worth checking their 'Spare Parts' section on the website though.

M MarkJ 6 days ago
I did check, but couldn't find anything for my kettle model. Maybe I missed it.

Does anyone know if Tefal UK offers a student discount? I'm looking to buy a new pan set and every little helps!

E EmilyR 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
Yes, they usually do! Check their website directly or sometimes it's through UNiDAYS. I got one last year when I bought my Ingenio set.

B BenJ 1 week ago
Can confirm, I used my student discount for an air fryer.

S SophieL 1 week ago
Oh amazing, I'll check UNiDAYS now! Thanks!

L LiamT 1 week ago
Also, don't forget the newsletter sign-up discount. You might be able to combine it, or at least use one if the student one doesn't work out.
10
S SophieL 1 week ago
Good point, I always forget about those.

C ChloeP 1 week ago
I think Blue Light Card also works if you or someone you know has one, sometimes the discounts are similar.

Ordered a new steam generator iron during the Bank Holiday sale. The tracking says it's been 'dispatched' for three days now but no further updates. Anyone else had slow delivery recently from Tefal UK?

C ChrisG 3 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Mine took almost a week to arrive last month, also a steam generator. I think they might use a different courier for larger items. It did show up eventually though!
19
M MeenaK 3 weeks ago
A week, really? Hmm, okay, gives me some hope. Thanks!

L LisaB 3 weeks ago
Yeah, my air fryer took ages too. I think their standard delivery isn't the fastest.

S SarahP 3 weeks ago
I ordered some Ingenio handles and they arrived in 2 days. Maybe it depends on the product?
9
M MeenaK 3 weeks ago
Could be. Handles are tiny compared to an iron.
2
D DavidL 3 weeks ago
I had a similar issue with a blender last year. Contacted customer service, and they gave me a more detailed tracking link directly with the courier. Might be worth a try.
2
M MeenaK 3 weeks ago
Oh, good idea. I'll check their site for contact info.

A AlexJ 3 weeks ago
Yeah, sometimes the main tracking page isn't updated as fast.

Just received my new Ingenio pan set and I'm so confused about the PFOA-free claim. Are ALL Tefal products PFOA free now? I'm seeing conflicting info online.

D DavidR 5 days ago ✓ Best Answer
Yes, all Tefal non-stick coatings are PFOA, lead, and cadmium free. They made that change years ago. It's usually stated on the product packaging or in the description online.
13
C ChloeM 5 days ago
Okay, that's reassuring! Thanks for clarifying.
6
S SamiraB 5 days ago
Good to know for sure. It's always a concern.
5
L LauraT 5 days ago
The confusion might come from older products or different brands. For Tefal specifically, you should be fine with anything new.
5
C ChloeM 5 days ago
That makes sense. I was looking at some older articles.
1
L LiamC 5 days ago
Mine arrived last week and the box clearly states PFOA-free. So you're good!

My old Tefal non-stick pan is finally on its way out after years of service. Thinking of getting another one, but wondering if anyone has tried their ceramic pans? Are they any good for induction?

S SunitaM 3 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I switched to a ceramic pan for my induction hob a few months ago and love it. Non-stick is great, cleans up really easily. Just make sure it specifically says 'induction compatible' on the listing.
7
K KavitaJ 3 weeks ago
Any particular range you'd recommend?
0
D DeepakR 3 weeks ago
Good to know, thanks! My old one was just a basic non-stick, not ceramic.
2
R RajeshP 3 weeks ago
I've had mixed experiences with ceramic. Some brands chip easily. Tefal's tend to be pretty decent though. Just avoid metal utensils.
7
D DeepakR 3 weeks ago
Metal utensils are a no-go for any non-stick really.

P PoojaS 3 weeks ago
Following this, my induction hob hates half my current pans.

thinking of getting an ActiFry but worried about delivery time to Glasgow. anyone ordered something big recently and can give me an idea how long it took?

N Nina Carter 3 months ago
Mine came in about 4 days to Edinburgh, so Glasgow should be similar. It was a pan set, pretty big box. Tracking was decent too.
3
R Renee 3 months ago
Ordered a pressure cooker to Aberdeen, took a week but that was during a sale, so might be a bit quicker usually. If it's over 50 quid, shipping's free anyway so that's a plus.
